Nozawa Onsen is an ancient hot spring and ski resort village in the Nagano prefecture. The village, numbering 4,500 residents, is said to have been established in the 8th century, giving it a charm and atmosphere quite unique from all other ski destinations in Japan. Nozawa Onsen is very easily accessible from Tokyo by direct Shinkansen (bullet train) or bus.

Shiro Nozawa is an old Japanese ryokan which has been renovated into luxury self-contained western style apartments situated in the centre of Nozawa Onsen village. Shiro's apartments are situated in the oldest, and what is considered by many, the most picturesque street in the village. Shiro is the only luxury western style apartment lodge to boast a private onsen filled with Nozawa's famous hot spring water. Some apartments even have their very own private onsen baths for relaxing soaks in complete privacy. From Shiro, the Yu Road travelator provides immediate access to Hikage Gondola and Nozawa Ski School, and is only 10 minutes walk away, while the centre of town is immediately accessible.
